The relay also helps prevent catastrophic transformer failure by detecting turn-to-turn faults involving as little as 2% of the total winding. You can reduce commissioning time and eliminate costly errors with included software that recommends matrix compensation settings. Thermal and through-fault monitoring allows you to track transformer wear and schedule maintenance as needed. Circuit breaker wear monitoring saves time and money by reducing the need for costly and inefficient maintenance. The SEL-487E includes two differential elements and complete feeder and distance protection, making it possible to fully protect a distribution substation with a single device. Use the SEL-487E-4, with its 6 voltage and 18 current terminals, as the substation's phasor measuring unit.
